Monday 1st August
We started the CultuRISE 5 week project so far we have had a few marvelous sessions. We think that more young people should get involved in this type of thing - because you learn about art - old ages - back in the day - old skool.
Our first session of the project was to get to know each other and learn about some of the history in the museum - we found it quite interesting to learn about the ancient egyptians, the japanese, the chinese, india and many more cultural stuff.
Our second session (today) was carving soap into some things we found artistic like mummys, fish, vases, etc. after ourt break we came in to make some clay models.
Friday 5th August
Our third session we painted them shabti things. We looked around the museum for colours for our dragon mummy. Others did mosaic and spray painting egyptian hieroglyphics.
We have been around the museum, we have been painting the cloth/canvas including Michael falling over into the paint. We painted the canvas so that the spray paint doesn't soak into it or run.We also painted our shabtis and Micheael wrote his name out in hyrogliphics. Trist's arm fell off his Shabti!

The Culturise team took their fantastic artistic creations around the North East! People were wowed by their artwork at Chester-Le-Street and Newton Aycliffe. Thankfully it stayed largely dry apart from the last day.
